In her third full Ironman, Rings, 34, was the top local female finisher at Ironman Coeur d’Alene on June 27, completing the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike leg and 26.2-mile run in 11 hours, 34 minutes, 46 seconds — a personal best and some 46 minutes faster than her time at Ironman Cd’A in 2015, another brutally hot race. “I was no stranger to hot temperatures and this course,” Rings said. “I knew what I needed to do leading up to race day and then come the day of the race you really just want to survive.”
