Pasco man dies in collision near Royal City

A Pasco man died Thursday morning near Royal City when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a semi.
Juan Medina Sanchez, 27, was driving a blue 1998 Ford Expedition just before 6:22 a.m. northbound on Road F Southwest, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Diego D. Rivera, 33, of Connell, was driving a white 1999 Freightliner with two trailers eastbound on state Route 26 at Road Southwest.
Medina Sanchez failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by the semi on the driver’s side, the WSP stated. Both vehicles ended up on the westbound shoulder of state Route 26.
Medina Sanchez was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. Rivera was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The Expedition was totaled. The semi had damage and was towed from the scene.
The cause of the collision was failure to stop at a stop sign, according to the WSP.
