A wildfire in northern Grant County has drawn state firefighting resources.

The Northrup Canyon Fire is burning in grass and sagebrush near Electric City, the State Fire Marshal's Office stated in a release Friday.

The fire was estimated at 300 acres and threatens structures and wheat. Level 2 and 3 evacuations were in effect.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the request of Fire Chief Ryan Fish of the Grand Coulee Fire Department.

The State Fire Marshal's Office said the state fire assistance was mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working on the fire.

Under the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates the initial dispatch and continued administrative oversight of resources and personnel for the duration of the mobilization, the release stated.
