Timber Days coming this weekend

Priest River’s Timber Days will begin this Friday, with a cornhole registration at 5:30 p.m., the tournament at 6 p.m. and the Hot Neon Nights car cruise at 7 p.m. sponsored by the Asphalt Angels.
The event is returning after being canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 risks. Because of the cancelation last year, the event will have two residents with the “Bull of the Woods” title: Shorty (Claude) Graham, the 2020 winner, and Rick Pettit, the 2021 winner.
The Bull of the Woods is nominated by members of the community who write in, said chamber secretary Anne Sweetman. Most have spent many years as loggers. Traditionally, the Bull of the Woods get a spot in the parade and a few gifts honoring them.
“They get a nice plaque,” she said, “and they get the suspenders with “Bull of the Woods” written on their suspenders.”
Saturday will kick off with a huckleberry pancake breakfast sponsored by the Priest River Lamanna Spartan Adult Boosters from 7-11 a.m., and a “Run for the Berries” at 7 a.m.
There will also be a “Show ‘n’ Shine” car show with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and food booths and vendors opening at 8 a.m., as well as a parade at 11 a.m.
The logging competition will begin at 1 p.m., with awards for the logging competition and lawn mower races at 4 p.m.
In addition to its usual vendors, Timber Days will also be selling Timber Days T-shirts, tank tops, hats and growlers. Shirts will be $15 for straight sizes and $20 for XL and XXL. Hats are $20, and growlers are $15.
The full schedule can be found at priestriverchamber.com/timber-days-2021.
