Public health officers announced Thursday they recommended residents wear a mask in indoor public places and practice physical distancing when possible due to the “rapidly increasing spread of COVID-19 in Washington state driven by the delta variant,” according to an advisory.

The Grant County Health District, part of Region 7’s health officers, which made the announcement, also advised people to increase hygiene measures, get tested if there were potential COVID-19 symptoms and isolate until results were known, and call medical facilities before seeking treatment.

People were advised to get vaccinated, as “the risk of becoming severely sick from an infection with the delta variant is very low for vaccinated” people who aren’t immune compromised.
