Robert Brown, 88

Robert “Bob” Brown passed away at the North Idaho Hospice surrounded by family on May 19, 2021 at the age of 88 years after a brave fight with cancer. His courage in life and death served as an example of Christian faith and love to all who knew him.

Bob grew up in rural Oklahoma as the son of two school teachers. The strong work ethic he learned served him well in his two-year service in the Navy during the Korean War and his 37 years’ service in the Forest Service. He lived in rustic surroundings in Red Ives, Kelly Creek, Kooskia, Orofino and Avery, Idaho before moving to Libby, Mont. with his family. When he returned to Idaho, Bob served as a Special Agent for the Forest service and later as a liaison for the Forest Service at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga.

After retiring, Bob enjoyed traveling and visiting family. He especially enjoyed pulling his trailer to Arizona to watch the Mariners play Cactus League baseball in the spring. Family and Christian service also played a large part in his life. He loved to spend time with his veteran friends and Forest Service friends eating doughnuts and telling “stories.”

Bob was known for his generosity. Many have shared stories of him giving money, belongings, or time to anyone that needed help. Most of the time, it was done without anyone knowing who it came from until long afterward. Church members grew to expect his ready smile there to greet them at the front door when the church was open for services.

When healthy, Bob participated in singing Barbershop with the Lake City Harmonizers and his quartet, The Fishermen.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie (45 years) and his second wife, Louise (15 years). He is survived by his children, Michael (Kathy) Brown, Lee Ann (Joe) Bache, Sharon (Danny) Brossman, David (Carol) Brown, Daniel (Laura) Brown, and Jayne (Rob) Little, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 1p.m. on June 5th, 2021 at the Dalton Gardens Church of Christ, (6439 N 4th Street, corner of 4th and Hanley). The service will also be live streamed and can be accessed at: dgchurch.org website.
