Softball goes .500 at state tourney

The Columbia Falls girls softball team went .500 at the state tournament in Butte last week.
The Wildkats opened the tournament against Park County High with a slugfest, losing 13-11. The Kats racked up 10 hits in the loss.
They then battled back to drop Havre in the loser out bracket Friday, 14-4, and then beat host Butte Central 9-2 as the Kats bats stayed hot.
But in the third game of the day, the Kats lost to Fergus County 8-4.
Against Havre, Sydney Mann pitched the win and went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, while Alyssa Blankenship and Haylee Lawrence hit home runs.
Against Butte, Abbey Underdahl and Izzy Johnson both had homers.
The Kats were 13-13 on the year.
Polson won the tourney.
