Children and families gathered for a day of fun at the Memorial Community Center this past month to celebrate the beginning of summer and get to know their local preschool.
Jennie Jett, one of the teachers at Hope Preschool, said children got to see a fire truck, ambulance and dump truck up close and personal. Children also had the chance to do arts and crafts including rock painting, meet her and the other teacher and play games.
The preschool also provided free hot dogs and popcorn. Overall, roughly 100 people attended the event and learned about the preschool options available, she said. Some don’t even realize there is a local preschool.
In addition to the games and activities, families won roughly $1,000 worth of prizes in a raffle, thanks to community donations. One young boy, named Aiden, won a Spider-Man bike.
“He was so excited,” Jett said.
Currently, Jett said, the preschool has 12 openings, although they may increase that slightly. They also offer income-based scholarships, she said.
“We want everyone to apply who thinks they might need it,” she said.
