Othello spring athletes named to GSL All-League

More than 40 Othello High School athletes were selected to the Greater Spokane League All-League teams for spring sports in Othello’s only season with the GSL.

Ten Othello softball players were honored. Ori Vasquez, Emily Garza, Camryn McDonald, Maya Valdez, Ashley Garza, Hailee Guzman and Nerissa Vasquez were all named to the First Team. Janelly Verduzco and Breanna Marquina received Second Team nods, while Persayis Garza took honorable mention.

For boys soccer, Luis Cruz, Alonzo Cruz, Anthony Ontiveros and Miguel Ramirez were named to the First Team. Second Team picks included Fernando Pena and Erick Sandoval.

Madisen Douglas was named to the Second Team in track. The 4x400 relay team of Sulibeth Mondragon, Rubi Mondragon, Josephine Gentry and Madisen Douglas received honorable mention honors along with Ashley Perez in shot put and discus.

In girls tennis, Julissa Cantu and Maciah Tovar were named to the First Team. Jacob Risenmay and Aaron Villarreal received First Team nods for Othello boys tennis. Kyler Freeman, Jack Gentry and Brighton Roylance received Second Team honors.

Jonathan Gomez, Chon Sauceda, Isaiah Alegria and Nathan Garza Jr. were selected to the First Team for baseball. Rodrigo Garza and Kevin Garza received Second Team honors while teammates Andre Garza and Larry Deleon garnered honorable mentions.

Travis Murdock and Malachi Garza represented Othello boys golf on the All-League First Team, with teammate Jacob Jewell receiving a second-team selection. Tanisha Salsbury was named to the Second Team for the girls golf team.
