The Idaho State Police has nearly completed its investigation into a fatal accident in Post Falls in February.
Lt. Allen Ashby said the incident has been under review since it occurred Feb. 27.
"We are in the final stages of case preparation as our Detectives and Reconstruction Specialists finish up their reports," he wrote in an email Friday to The Press.
David L. Mallery, 73, Post Falls, had exited the Walmart at 3050 E. Mullan Ave. and was walking north through the parking lot about 8:25 a.m. when he was struck by a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Jeremy S. Riggs, 49, of Post Falls, according to an ISP press release.
Riggs was southbound in the parking lot when he made a left turn in front of the store and hit Mallery, who died at the scene, police said.
"I anticipate ISP’s involvement will be completed in the next few weeks, and the case file will then be presented to the Kootenai Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review of criminal charges," Ashby wrote.
