Martin appointed to school board in Libby

Libby Public School Board members landed on Kristan Martin as their top pick for an open seat on the panel.
Martin, who joined the board during a June 14 meeting, filled a vacancy opened up after this year’s school board election. Three school board seats were up for reelection during this cycle with only one incumbent and a single outsider in the running.
Bgee Zimmerman was the sole incumbent to seek another term. Rob Delmas was the only newcomer to the race. Former members Ellen Johnston and Jeff Stevenson stepped aside.
A week before selecting Martin, board members interviewed five candidates. Martin told board members she hoped to join the panel because she had children in the district and wanted to give back to the community.
With prior experience on a parent teacher-board, Martin said she has learned how to collaborate and compromise.
