PULLMAN, Wash. — Elijah Owens hit a bases-loaded triple and, and Max Holden’s sacrifice fly put the Kalispell AA Lakers ahead in a 10-8 win over City Baseball at the WSU Summer Palouse tournament Saturday.

The Lakers (26-10-1) are now 3-1 at the tournament, including a 10-1 win over Baiden late Friday. Saturday they rallied after surrendering five runs in the first and trailing 6-0. Max Holden hit a 2-run double to cap a 4-run third inning. In the fifth Owens’ triple knotted the game at 7-7; Holden’s sac fly put Kalispell up 8-7; Nic Gustafson then had a bunt single and scored on Gage Brink’s base hit to make it 9-7.

Kael Willis hit a lead off single and scored an insurance run in the sixth. The game ended under the tournament time limit after six innings.

Danny Kernan got the win with 4 ⅔ innings of solid relief. His two runs allowed were unearned; he gave up three hits and five walks, and struck out two.

Kostya Hoffman allowed four hits and one run in five strong innings and Schlegel drove in three runs for the Lakers.

Hoffman walked none, struck out four and drove in a run. He also walked in the seventh, and when his pinch-runner, Gustafson, scored on Schlegel’s 2-run double, that capped a 7-run outburst and ended the game under the mercy rule.

Ethan Diede tripled and scored in the seventh. Owens drove in runs with a bases-loaded walk in the first and an RBI single in the third.
