LEGION BASEBALL: Lums stumble in Treasure State Showdown
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 7 months AGO
BELGRADE, Mont. — The Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen dropped to 2-2 in the Treasure State Showdown following a 9-1 loss to the Belgrade Bandits on Saturday afternoon.
“We’re not doing anything really well right now,” Coeur d’Alene coach Darren Taylor said. “Our pitchers are doing OK, but we’re not helping them defensively. Offensively, we’re not getting anywhere near 10 runs. We’re just in a little bit of a lull right now.”
James Guyer singled to score Cooper Larson with two outs in the top of the second inning for the Lumbermen, who were held without a hit in the final three innings.
“James doesn’t get to play that much, but when he does, he does some good things,” Taylor said. “We’ll see how the boys respond tomorrow. Hopefully we can figure this thing out.”
Coeur d’Alene (15-6) will face the Casper Oilers of Wyoming today at 9:30 a.m. PDT to conclude tournament play.

Scott Pemberton also had four RBIs for Northern Lakes against the Lakers.
Later, the Mountaineers fell to the Mission Valley Mariners of Polson 6-5 to drop to 2-1 in the tournament.
“They’re a really good program,” Johnson said of Mission Valley, which advanced to the championship game today. “I’m proud of the way we’re playing right now.
