Polson City Manager Ed Meece announced during Monday’s regular meeting of the Polson City Commission that the city will receive $1.2 million as part of the recently passed American Rescue Plan, also called the COVID-19 Stimulus Package.

The $1.9 trillion plan was signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11.

Meece said the distribution to the city will be spread out over two years, and funds may be used to reduce the impacts of the pandemic. He said some water, sewer and broadband projects also may qualify for use of the stimulus funding.

In other business, the commission approved a loan agreement for the purchase of three vehicles for the Polson Police Department. Commissioners unanimously approved the loan of $177,450, which also covers equipment customizations.

The loan, established through the state Board of Investments, carries a variable rate starting at 1.6% the first year.

In conjunction with the loan approval, the commission also approved the sale of two PPD 2009 Chevrolet Impalas, which will be sold at auction.

The commission also approved a residential zoning variance request regarding a Bayview Drive storage shed and appointed Robert Byers to a term on the Poson Parks and Tree Board that runs through 2023.
