Weekend prep roundup: Moses Lake holds on for home win

Moses Lake 28, Cashmere 27
In a back-and-forth battle at Lions Field on Friday night, the Chiefs took over on offense with less than 4 minutes to play down 21-20. Lerenz Thomas made his way into the end zone to put Moses Lake in front 28-21 before Cashmere scored from the one-yard line as the clock hit triple zeroes in the fourth to pull within one, 28-27.
When Cashmere went for the two-point conversion, Moses Lake’s Leo Cortez and Cruz Vasquez combined to force the stop and fumble in the end zone to give the Chiefs the win.
Royal 51, Ephrata 0
Knights quarterback Caleb Christensen finished with five total touchdowns against the Tigers on Friday, tossing three and adding a pair on the ground. Christensen finished with 194 yards passing, but was picked off three times by the Ephrata defense.
Avery Ellis finished with 122 yards on the ground for the Knights, while Derek Bergeson led the receiving group with eight catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Ellis added a returned blocked kick for the score on defense, while the Knights also added a safety in the third quarter.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 52, Entiat 14
ACH rushed for 401 of their 420 total yards on offense in the win against Entiat this past weekend. Parker Roberts led ACH with 124 yards rushing on just four attempts, chipping in one of eight rushing TDs the team scored. ACH QB Dane Isaak threw for 19 yards and added 53 yards on the ground and a pair of rushing scores.
Jaxon Baergen led the defense with seven tackles, one for a loss. Reece Isaak finished with three tackles behind the line for the Warriors.
Warden 0, Manson 27
The Cougars were shut out at home on Friday night running into a tough Manson defense. The Cougars fell behind 7-0 in the first and had a close shot to tie the score in the second before turning the ball over on downs deep in the red zone.
The Cougars were unable to find the end zone despite strong rushing efforts from Julian Egia and Cael Cox. Egia led the Cougars with 87 yards rushing, while Cox chipped in 67 yards and a team-high seven tackles on the defensive side. Dahani Trupp added six tackles for the Cougars, while JC Martinez nabbed an interception in the third.
Wahluke 6, Okanogan 48
Andrew Yorgesen finished with 98 yards and one passing touchdown for the Warriors in the loss against Okanogan. Oscar Perez picked up the touchdown, finishing with two catches for 33 yards.
Othello 18, Shadle Park 21
Shadle Park scored with 17 seconds left to play to pull ahead for the win at home against the Huskies. Othello finished with 245 yards rushing in the game, with two players totaling more than 100 yards. Julian Alegria finished with 156 to lead the Huskies, while Sonny Asu chipped in 103 on the ground.
Quincy 0, Cascade 33
Sergio Cordova finished with 45 yards on the ground for the Jacks in the loss to Cascade this past weekend. Quarterback Elijah Gonzales finished with 37 passing yards, with Noel Hernandez leading the receivers with two catches for 28 yards. Andrew Townsend nabbed the interception on the defensive side for the Jacks.

Wahluke 2, Chelan 1
Hiselle Bernal opened up the scoring for the Warriors off an assist from Alondra Lozano. Ana Andrade netted the second goal to help lift Wahluke to the win.
Othello 4, Clarkston 1
Hailee Guzman found the back of the net off a rebound from a shot by Janelly Verduzco for the Huskies’ lone goal against Clarkston.

Ephrata 0, Chelan 3; Ephrata 3, Cashmere 1
Ephrata stayed close in the first two sets before falling in the sweep to Chelan, 17-25, 20-25, 8-25. Lindsay Addink finished with a team-high eight assists, two aces, adding three digs and a pair of kills.
The Tigers fell in the first set 25-27 before sweeping the next three, 25-18, 25-6, 25-16. Paige Heston finished with a team-high 22 digs. Jayla Sainsbury led the team with eight kills, while Addison Mills and Hayden Mills combined for 13 more.
Moses Lake 1, Cascade 3; Moses Lake 0, Eastmont 3
Moses Lake took a commanding win in the opening set against Cascade, 25-13 before dropping the next two by just two points. The Chiefs couldn’t force the fifth set, falling 16-25 in the fourth set. Raegan Hofheins chipped in five kills, 13 digs, two aces and an assist against Cascade.
Eastmont took all three sets by double-digits against Moses Lake, 14-25, 13-25, 14-25. Sam Shelton notched three kills for the Chiefs. Sydney Macdonald added seven assists, four digs and a kill.
Warden 0, Okanogan 3; Warden 2, Lake Roosevelt 3
The Cougars fell by double-digits in all three sets against Okanogan on Saturday, 14-25, 15-25, 14-25. Warden won the first set against Lake Roosevelt, 25-14, before dropping the next two. The Cougars came back to win and force a fifth set, 25-18, before falling 15-10 in the final set of the match.
