Idaho-NAU football game rescheduled for April 17
The football game between Idaho and Northern Arizona, postponed last Saturday due to COVID-19 protocols within the Vandals’ program, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 17 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Kickoff at the Walkup Skydome is set for 1 p.m. on April 17 during week eight of the spring 2021 season. Week eight was originally the second of two open weeks the conference built into the schedule.
The Vandals continue to prepare for Southern Utah on March 27, the final home game of the six-game regular season.
Idaho will now finish with three straight road games, after playing its first three at home. The Vandals opened with a win over Eastern Washington on Feb. 27, then lost to UC Davis on March 6.
The Southern Utah game would be Idaho's first in three weeks.
“We’re focused on getting ready for Southern Utah in the Dome next weekend," Idaho coach Paul Petrino said. "We were disappointed to lose the game last weekend but are thankful that the Big Sky Conference had planned for these situations with the built-in bye weeks. We’ll be ready for Northern Arizona when we get the chance on April 17.”
Idaho is slated to play at Idaho State on April 3 and at Eastern Washington on April 10.
EWU QB Barriere named Stats Perform Offensive Player of the Week
Eastern Washington quarterback Eric Barriere was honored Monday by Stats Perform as the National Offensive Player of the Week.
Barriere threw two touchdown passes in the final five minutes, and five overall with 455 passing yards, as Eastern Washington registered a come-from-behind 46-42 win over Idaho State on Saturday in Pocatello. Barriere recorded a career-high 34 completions in 50 attempts, the final one a 6-yard touchdown to wide receiver Andrew Boston with 25 seconds remaining.
Barriere was also named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
