February 12, 1931 – February 13, 2021

Larry Albert Price was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Fairview, Montana, and died Feb. 13, 2021, in Spokane Washington, just hours after celebrating his 90th birthday with his children.

He was the second son of five children born to Lawrence and Lydia Price. He graduated from Cheney High School in 1949 and has a degree from WSU in agriculture and journalism.

He joined the Coast Guard in 1951 and returned to the Spokane area after discharge, where he met his wife, Lois Goehri. They were married May 18, 1957, in Spokane.

He was a farmer and a rancher, starting with a small farm near Moses Lake, then expanding to a larger farm near Ephrata in 1969. He also ran cattle near Republic, Washington, for many years.

When he retired, he and Lois enjoyed traveling the United States in a motor home. He restored old cars, did a little trick bicycle riding, took up piano, learned to ski and started writing and reciting cowboy poetry. Many of his stories and poems have been compiled into a book called “I’m Really Not a Cowboy.”

Larry loved God and his family. His church, neighbors and friends meant the world to him and he cherished your visits.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, brother Maynard, sister Ruth and grandson Cameron.

He is survived by his five children Lyndon Price (Melody), Wendy Stapish (Ron), Amy Norene (Pardner), Maxine Lawler (Denny) and Tim Price; 11 grandchildren Cody, Chelsea, Jamilyn, Neil, Colin, Mark, Amanda, Alex, Tyler and Karsen, and two great-grandchildren Dezi and Brady.

A celebration of his life will be held March 27 at The Community Church of Ephrata, 54 K St. SE. In order to comply with COVID restrictions this will be an “open house” style service from 1-3 p.m..

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Grace Point Church Awana program, or to the Ephrata Senior Center.
