Sandpoint lacrosse secures first win

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint varsity boys lacrosse team took down Moscow 11-7 on Wednesday night at War Memorial Field to pickup their first win of the season.
SHS led for three quarters, but the Bears got within two goals midway through the fourth. The Bulldogs answered the challenge and scored three goals down the stretch to close it out.
Joseph Aexel and Blayne Kanning led Sandpoint's high-powered attack. Aexel scored four goals and Kanning tallied three.
Jake Aitken found the back of the net twice for the Bulldogs, and Kostas Bauck and Owen Wimmer each added a goal.

The Bulldogs recovered from a rough opening quarter to down the Hawks 48-37 and split the regular season series between the two Inland Empire League foes. The victory also puts Sandpoint in the driver's seat to grab the No. 1 seed to the 4A Region 1 tournament.

A win was within reach for Sandpoint boys basketball late in the third quarter of Tuesday's game, but a 12-2 run by St. Maries dashed those hopes.
