Braedt, Kappen each claim 2 victories at Lakeland Invite

RATHDRUM — Nikolai Braedt and Braden Kappen each won two events at Friday's Lakeland Take Flight Invite.

Kappen placed first in the boys 400 and long jump while Braedt swept the 1600 and 3200.

As a team, the Sandpoint boys took second with 39 points. The girls secured fourth out of seven teams with 18 points and finished ahead of district rivals Lakeland and Moscow, who tied for sixth with 14 points.

Maren Davidson won the girls 800 by .09 seconds. She ran a PR of 2:22.3. Taylor Petz matched her school record of 11 feet to grab first in the pole vault, and she was second in the 100 hurdles.

Luke McCorkle won the boys 110 hurdles with a PR of 16.75 and he was second in the 300 hurdles. Ben Ricks and Jett Lucas captured second and third respectively in the boys 800.

Megan Oulman and Ara Clark were second and third in the girls 3200 and both ran PRs.

Keyan Strock, Rusty Lee, Peyton Ennis and Kappen teamed up to run the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. They finished second to Post Falls in both events. Ennis was also third in the 200.

Will Hurst tossed a PR of 150-11 to claim second in the discus and Slate Fragoso PR'd in the pole vault by a foot to earn third.

Keegan Nelson posted a PR in the 3200 to place third and Stone Lee was third in the high jump. Kayla Remsen recorded a PR of 34 feet, 2 inches in the girls shot put to grab third.

Sandpoint will participate in the District 1 Meet of Champions on Thursday.
