Glacier boys netters sweep Gallatin, Bozeman

Glacier’s boys tennis team won both of its duals, while the girls team split against Bozeman and Gallatin on Saturday at Flathead Valley Community College.

The boys beat Bozeman 6-2 and Gallatin 6-2, helmed by Rory Smith, who won both his matches to remain 6-0 on the season. Smith handed Bozeman’s Blake Phillipi his first loss of the season in No. 1 singles.

“Pretty good day overall,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said. “It’s nice to see the teams from the east. The more we can see these, it’s nice for variety.”

Maicy McCarty led the Bozeman girls to a 6-2 win over Glacier. Doubles pairs Nicole Mitchell/Madison Johnson and Tori Dobis/Katy Bitney won Glacier’s only matches against the Hawks.

The Glacier girls fared better against Gallatin, sweeping every match. Mitchell/Johnson and Dobis/Bitney won their second matches of the day.

On the boys’ side, Kyler Knutson was also a double winner for Glacier, who is 9-0 in duals this season. The girls are 3-5-1.
