Bennetts, Lengacher elected to school board

Quincy Bennetts and Todd Lengacher were elected to the Whitefish School Board Tuesday after receiving the top number of votes in the election.

Both are newcomers to the board after current trustees Besty Kohnstamm and Ruth Harrison chose not to seek re-election.

Bennetts tallied 1,403 votes, while Lengacher earned 1,225 votes.

Leanette Kearns earned 850 votes, David Diehl got 798 votes and Emily Morrow got 395 votes.

Bennetts and her family moved to the Flathead Valley in 2004, then settled into Whitefish 10 years later. She and her husband Joel Shehan have one son in third grade at Muldown Elementary.

She works full time as a pediatric physical therapist at Montana Children’s in Kalispell.

Lengacher has experience in education having spent 20 years as an educator, 10 of those in administration, and has a masters in mathematics. He’s worked in schools both domestically and internationally, helping to develop educational programs in 13 countries.

Three years ago Lengacher and his wife Erica moved to Whitefish, and they have an 8-year-old daughter. He is the executive director of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwest Montana program.

K-9 security team joins staff at Confluence

WENATCHEE — A security dog will be patrolling the halls of Central Washington Hospital, part of an expansion of the security team for Confluence Health. Atlas, a three-year-old German Shepherd, and his handler Justin Bennett will be on the hospital campus and at Confluence Health’s Mares building on Chelan Avenue in Wenatchee.

MOSES LAKE – Three Moses Lake men were booked into the Grant County Jail Tuesday morning for assaulting a man, threatening to kill him and stealing his car on Monday, according to a statement from Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Ephrata PD releases statement on jail death investigation

EPHRATA – The Ephrata Police Department released a statement Tuesday indicating that the Central Basin Investigative Team, a joint task force made up of law enforcement agencies from around the region, is investigating the death of Richard Lambert, an inmate at the Grant County Jail.
