Three years ago, Kassidy Kinzie helped lead the Plains-Hot Springs softball team to an appearance in the Class B-C state tournament.

Now, the Plains High School graduate is helping the Miles Community College Pioneers to a strong 2021 season.

The Pioneers are winners of eight straight and 10 of their last 11 games heading into Tuesday’s Region 13 sub-regional against Lake Region State College. They are 21-12-1, including a 11-2-1 mark at home.

In the circle, Kinzie, a freshman, is 11-5 with 15 starts among 21 appearances. She has tossed 95 1/3 innings with 106 strikeouts, 36 walks and a 3.38 earned run average. She has thrown 12 complete games with three shutouts.

As a fielder, Kinzie has a .964 percentage with just one error in 28 chances and one assist.

At the plate, Kinzie has a .350 average with seven hits in 20 at-bats. She homered once and added a triple. She has scored seven runs.

In the 2019-20 season Kinzie was 0-2 with one complete game in six appearances. Offensively, Kinzie hit .357 with two doubles and one home run with five RBIs.

Her parents are Richard and Kim Kenzie.
