Local Sandpoint musician Maya Goldblum, aka “Queen Bonobo,” is releasing her EP, “Sail From This Life” today.

Songs include “Throw Me In,” “Octopus Lady” and “Sail From This Life.”

Goldblum, who studied music in Ireland, combines jazz and folk in her music. “Throw Me In” written shortly after her move to Ireland, explores the feelings of being alone in a new place.

Her song “Octopus Lady” comes following her return to the states, and her experience while visiting a Seattle music venue called “The Sea Monster.”

“Sail From This Life” is a song about the inevitable end of a romance she had while in Ireland.

“Each song shares a common theme of uncomfortable lessons of change,” according to a statement by Goldblum’s publicist. “They move through weighted burden, sadness, the rattling depths of the ocean, and, finally, up towards the light and freeness of ‘getting outside of yourself’ at the surface.”
