Weekend roundup: Moses Lake softball team sweeps Warden

Prep softball

Moses Lake 5, Warden 4

Taylor Hofheins capped off a late comeback by the Chiefs with a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Chiefs the 5-4 win over the Cougars. Hofheins led Moses Lake from the plate, finishing 2-4 with three RBIs. Kiana Rios finished 2-3 for Warden, while Brianna Martinez finished 2-4. Rios struck out 12 on the mound, surrendering five runs on four hits.

Moses Lake 8, Warden 1

A five-run fifth inning let Moses Lake pull away in the second game of the doubleheader. Kendall Reffett finished 4-4 for the Chiefs, while Laurissa Martinez led the team with three RBIs on a 2-3 day hitting.

Pitcher Morgan Ross allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts.

Royal 11, Okanogan 1

The Knights pulled away from Okanogan with six runs in the bottom of the third to win 11-1 in five and a half innings Saturday. Randi Allred finished 3-3 for Royal with a pair of RBIs and two doubles.

Boys soccer

Othello 3, Shadle Park 1

The Huskies outshot Shadle Park 20-3 on their way to the seventh win of the season on Thursday afternoon. Alex Quiroz, Christian Torres and Miguel Ramirez all scored for Othello on corner kicks from Luis Cruz as the Huskies remain undefeated this spring.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 8, Royal 3

Cooper Christensen and Luke Bergeson both finished with multiple hits, but Royal couldn’t match ACH’s scoring in the opening matchup. Christensen finished with four stolen bases.

Royal 14, ACH 1

Three four-run innings in a row between the third and fifth clinched a dominant win for the Knights in the second game. Cooper Christensen finished 3-4 from the plate with a home run, triple and pair of RBIs. Derek Bergeson and Kevin Reyes each finished with three RBIs, with Bergeson adding a pair of triples.

Austin Bunn finished 2-4 from the plate with a home run and three RBIs in the win for Big Bend. Brandham Ponce added four RBIs on a 2-4 effort from the plate, while Tristen Garland chipped in a pair of RBIs, finishing 2-3 in the game.

Big Bend 16, Treasure Valley 1

Austin Bunn kept up the hot hitting in the second game with another home run on his way to a five-RBI game, finishing 2-2 from the plate. Parker Plato chipped in four RBIs with a home run and a double, while Brandham Ponce finished 4-5 hitting with a double.

Women’s basketball

Big Bend 69, Wenatchee Valley 55

A 27-14 advantage in the third quarter helped the Vikings come back in the second half. Savana Stephenson notched the double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds while Kaitlyn Callahan and Kelsey Sorenson both finished with 16 points.
