POLSON — Mason Peters had a 2-run double and he and two other Glacier pitchers combined to stymie Mission Valley on seven hits in an 8-2 A American Legion baseball win Thursday.
Peters threw for the first two innings before giving away to Jacob Polumbus, who threw four innings of one-hit ball — striking out four — to earn the victory.
Mission Valley’s defense helped the Twins. An error and a passed ball helped Glacier score twice in the fifth to make it 4-2, and Hayden Meehan walked and scored another error to make it 5-2 in the sixth.
Meehan had an RBI single and Peters his big double in the eighth as the Twins put the game out of reach. Meehan also threw the final two innings, allowing two hits and fanning three.
Xavier Fisher had three of the Mariners’ hits and scored ones. Dariene Williams threw five innings for Mission Valley, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk. He and James Bennett combined for one strikeout against the Twins’ lineup.
