COEUR d’ALENE — A woman is being held on $100,000 bail after police said they found heroin and prescription pills in her car while she was traveling with her granddaughter.
Kristi A. Brownell-Davis, 45, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
She is also charged with two counts of possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and injury to a child, all misdemeanors.
Coeur d’Alene police stopped a Chevy Malibu around 3 p.m. Wednesday for an alleged traffic violation. Brownell-Davis was a passenger and the registered owner of the vehicle.
A white pill with the marking scraped away was allegedly visible on the dashboard. Brownell-Davis told police she had found the pill on a sidewalk.
Police also allegedly observed an open bottle of alcohol on the floor.
A search of the vehicle reportedly yielded drug paraphernalia, as well as a substance police said was heroin and two bottles containing an assortment of prescription pills.
Brownell-Davis’s young grandchild was reportedly in the back seat of the car.
Police arrested Brownell-Davis at the scene.
Judge Scott Wayman ordered Thursday that Brownell-Davis be held on $100,000 bail.
Brownell-Davis was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in March. The separate case is ongoing.
