Roundup: Warden softball hands Royal first and only loss of the season

Warden 4, Royal 3
Jada Hernandez finished 3-4 from the plate for Warden including a walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth, handing Royal their first and only loss of the season. The Cougars were led by Lauryn Madsen on the mound who finished with 13 strikeouts.
Ephrata 6, Wenatchee 2
Pitcher Rylee Peters surrendered two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts. Three Tigers hit doubles and Paige Wood grabbed a leadoff triple in her first at-bat.
Ephrata 11, Wenatchee 0
Kylar Heston knocked a pair of home runs and a double. Crystal Vela finished 3-3 from the plate.

The Huskies gained 11 hits as a team Saturday. Chon Sauceda finished 2-4 from the plate with a pair of RBIs and a double. Larry Deleon and Rodrigo Garza finished 2-4 as well.
Royal 15, Tonasket 0
Kevin Reyes surrendered just two hits with eight strikeouts on the mound. Derek Bergeson finished 2-3 from the plate with three RBIs and a pair of doubles. Jace Allred went 3-3 with one RBI and two runs earned as five Knights notched multiple hits.
Royal 10, Tonasket 5
Cooper Christensen had a monster game at the plate, finishing 3-4 with two RBIs, a home run and a double. Gunnar Jenks finished 2-3 with one RBI.
Moses Lake 9, Wenatchee 1
Four runs in the bottom of the fifth helped the Chiefs win the first game against Wenatchee on Friday. Blaine Macdonald and Asher Lindgren went 2-3 from the plate with an RBI each. Merit Jansen finished 1-4 with a double.
Moses Lake 10, Wenatchee 0
A six-run first inning gave Moses Lake some breathing room early in the five-inning game. Senior Jackson Purcell finished 2-3 with a pair of RBIs for Moses Lake. Asher Lindgren went 1-2 with a triple. Merit Jansen pitched all five innings with four hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

Brian Herrera scored twice and assisted on another goal for Wahluke in the 5-4 win over Bridgeport to wrap up the spring season. Luis Garcia, Jose Garcia and Orlando Erazo made a goal apiece with Erazo adding an assist as well. Erick Lopez picked up two assists for the Warriors. Goalkeeper Elmer Lazo finished with six saves.

Matthew Plato finished 2-4 from the plate for Big Bend Community College with a pair of RBIs in the opening game against Spokane CC on Thursday.

Gabriel Passey drove in the winning run on a single in the bottom of the ninth in the second game. Brandham Ponce finished 4-5 from the plate with three RBIs and a home run. Austin Bunn finished 3-5 with a double and an RBI.
Men’s basketball
Big Bend 97, Walla Walla 88
The Vikings pulled away in the first half with a 12-point lead at 54-48 on Friday. Jahvonta Jones poured in 36 points and eight rebounds in the win, while Keenan Miller added 27. DJ Frye added 14 points.
Women’s basketball
Big Bend 51, Walla Walla 72
The Vikings struggled shooting all night in the loss to Walla Walla on Friday, shooting just 36 percent from the field and 2-23 from three-point range. Savana Stephenson finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. Kelsey Sorenson added 14 points and nine boards.
