On your marks: Western AA track switches to Legends

The Western AA Divisional track meet originally set for Butte’s Bulldog Memorial Stadium has been moved to Kalispell, at the direction of the AA athletic directors.
The meet will be Friday (start time 2 p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m.) at Legends Stadium, with the Flathead and Glacier high schools acting as co-hosts.
The announcement came in an email shared by both Flathead activity director Bryce Wilson and Glacier AD Mark Dennehy. Inclement weather is expected in both Butte and Great Falls this weekend, and the Eastern AA Divisional moved as well, from Great Falls to Billings.
“The AA Athletic Directors have made the decision to move the locations of the Divisional Track Meets due to forecasted low temperatures in Great Falls and Butte,” the email reads. “Rationale for the decision was based on: 1. Safety of the athletes. 2. Availability and forecasted weather at the alternative sites. 3. Integrity of the Divisional meets.”
Rain is very likely in Great Falls this weekend, as in Butte, with the added threat of snow in the Mining City.
Highs in the low-50s (Friday) and low 60s are expected in Kalispell, with much less of a chance of rain.
