xCOLUMBIA FALLS — On a cool, windbreaker-handy day at the Dr. Nicosia Track Complex, Mikenna Ells breezed to another 400 meters victory and her Whitefish Bulldogs built another pretty good pile of points.

Ells, who also clocked 12.52 seconds in the 100 meters trials — second-fastest in Class A — ran anchor on the victorious short relay. All that helped Whitefish to 47 points.

Corvallis, which edged Whitefish at last week’s Nelson-Thomas A-B-C meet last week, is second with 43 points after eight events. Host Columbia Falls is third at 39.

A lot of the Wildkats’ points came in the 1,600, where Lara and Siri Erickson went 1-2. Siri Erickson lowered her best time to 5:26.22. The sisters sit 1-2 in Class A.

The most impressive mark came from Dillon’s Ainsley Shipman, who won a fast 100-meters hurdles race in 15.36, a personal record and the fastest time in A. Hailey Ells of Whitefish was second at 16.34 and now sits No. 3.

Corvallis’ Jenna Jordan bettered her own personal record by over 7 feet and won the javelin with a heave of 129-4. That’s now tops in Class A as well. Rylie Linduist of Ronan was second at 117-8 and sits No. 6 in A.

Kailen Herbstritt cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault for the Blue Devils; Columbia Falls’ Hannah Sempf was second.

Hamilton, getting two individual wins, leads the boys race after seven events with 62 points. Frenchtown has 40 and Whitefish is third at 26.

Libby’s Jay Beagle continued his success in the 400 meters, winning in 50.05, and also ran the fastest time in a fast 100 meters trials: 11.20.

Hamilton’s Colter Purcell and Lane Cole went 1-2 in the 1,600, and Cole PR’d with a time of 4:32.27, third-fastest in Class A. Right behind him was Browning’s Jeremy Bockus at 4:36.98 (5th in A).

Another impressive event was the shot put, where the top four finishers — Frenchtown’s Jake Houlihan (51 feet, 6 inches), Whitefish’s Talon Holmquist (50-1.5), and Andrew and Tyler Burrows of Hamilton — all PR’d. The top three in the event now sit 1-2-3 in Class A.

Hamilton also saw Andrew Carmody win the pole vault on criteria: All six placers cleared the same height: 11-6.

Dillon’s Treyton Anderson ran an extremely good 110-meter hurdles, winning in 14.69. In second was Whitefish’s Bodie Smith at 16.14, which is currently the second-fastest time in Class A.

Anderson also won the long jump with a personal record of 20-10.25.
