FLORENCE — The Mission-Arlee-Charlo Bulldogs turned heads earlier this season when they tied Class A power Polson; now they’ve shocked the softball world again.
Freshman Izzy Evans hit a walk-off grand slam to lift MAC over defending champion Huntley Project in the first round of the State B softball tournament.
Two singles and a walk loaded the bases up for Evans, who according to 406mtsports.com hit the first pitch she saw from the Red Devils’ Camden Susott.
Project had scored three runs in the top of the seven to lead 6-3.
In Thursday’s other games, Stillwater (Columbus-Absarokee-Park City) beat Ennis 2-1 on Izzy Adams’ bases-loaded, bloop single in the sixth; host Florence topped Shepherd 12-5 behind four RBIs from MacKenzie Little; and Sienna Spotted Bear’s 3-run homer highlighted Cut Bank-Valier’s 13-3 win over Manhattan.
