FLORENCE — A best-ever finish by the Mission softball program ended with a 10-4 loss to Florence in the State B/C championship game Saturday.
Mission-Arlee-Charlo, which among other accomplishments this season handed State A champion Polson a tie, couldn’t match the firepower of the Falcons, who won their 11th title.
Junior Jaidyn Larson hit four doubles for Florence, one coming in a 6-run fourth inning that erased a 3-2 MAC lead.
Kasidy Yeoman hit a 2-run triple, scored on Laron’s double, and the Falcons added a double and a single to score twice more and lead 8-3.
The Bulldogs switched pitcher Liev Smith out for Kooper Page, who had been a mainstay all season. Page, fighting a shoulder issue according to 406mtsports.com, pitched MAC past Stillwater 13-2 in the loser-takes-third game earlier Saturday.
The Bulldogs had led 3-0 an RBI double by Izzy Evans and a Florence error that let in two runs in the third.
Jerny Crawford hit a 3-run homer and Evans had a 2-run shot in MAC’s win over Stillwater. The game ended after five innings under the mercy rule.
