Quincy man injured in two-vehicle collision

A Quincy man was injured Saturday afternoon in a collision on state Route 281, south of Quincy, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Manuel A. Birrueta Herrera, 25, of Quincy, was driving south in a blue 2007 Honda Civic just before 12:38 p.m. on state Route 281 behind a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Joel Hernandez-Reyes, 59, of Quincy.

The Chevrolet slowed to turn left onto Road 7 Northwest and was struck by the Honda. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the southbound lane.

Birrueta Herrera was flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for his injuries. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was at fault, according to the WSP. He was cited for driving too fast. His vehicle was totaled.

Hernandez-Reyes was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. His vehicle had reportable damage.

It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the WSP.
