Moses Lake detectives arrest teen in alleged murder case

Moses Lake Police Department detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy Monday afternoon for investigation of first-degree murder in connection with a September homicide, MLPD Chief Kevin Fuhr said.
A man walking his dog saw 21-year-old Brandon D. Dick’s body Sept. 8 in an area north of Montlake Park, which is at 401 Linden Ave. Dick, of Moses Lake, died from a gunshot to the head and likely was killed in that area overnight, Fuhr said in September.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the 17-year-old, Fuhr said, and were watching his home. When the boy left in a car, detectives made a traffic stop on him on Grape Drive just after 12 p.m. and took him into custody.
Dick and the suspect knew each other, MLPD Capt. Mike Williams said, but police didn’t have a “solid motive at this point.”
Due to the suspect’s age, the amount of information police could release was limited, Fuhr told the Herald.
