Gary William Devine, 76
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 years, 10 months AGO
On Oct. 28, 2021, Gary William Devine was called home by his Heavenly Father.
Gary was born on May 19, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., to William and Gladys Devine. He was raised in the Nazarene Church but got into trouble with the law in his younger days. He was given the option of going into the military or going to jail. He chose the Marine Corps. Gary was honorably discharged in January 1973.
Gary was an avid truck driver, upholsterer, did security for a storage yard and ran a U-Haul truck rental. He and Cindi moved to North Idaho in 2005 and they became the managers of Farragut Storage in 2007. They cared for the yard as if it was their own. They are going on 15 years of service to the owners, Ron and Deb Hughes.
In 2008 he underwent a quintuple heart bypass. The Lord was changing Gary’s spiritual heart as well. In 2012 he and Cindi started attending Bayview Bible Chapel on a regular basis. Gary and Cindi were married in January 2013. They both became very involved in their church and Gary became a deacon. God was molding them into who they are today. Gary was on fire for the Lord and continued to glorify God daily. He touched so many lives, planting seeds of God’s Word along the way. He had a way of speaking to people about the Lord Jesus. Cindi is so thankful for the Lord growing them up in Him. “We didn’t have to work for it, God made it easy.” She plans to continue Gary’s legacy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Cindi, daughter Missy (Dean), son Doug (Sherri), grandchildren JC, Dannelle (Tyler), Justin, Preston, Henry, Sabrina and great-granddaughter Payton. He is preceded in death by grandson Carl.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Athol Community Center.
