GREELEY, Colo. — Pins from Earl Blake (133 pounds) and Devin Winston (184) helped propel North Idaho College to a 22-21 victory over NAIA Doane University of Crete, Neb., on Sunday as part of four duals on the day for the Cardinals.

NIC also took on a couple of NCAA Division I programs, falling 38-3 to Utah Valley University of Orem, Utah, and 46-3 to host Northern Colorado.

Jett Strickenberger (125) notched NIC’s lone win vs. Utah Valley. Sam Edeblute, formerly of Lakeland High, won by major decision at 149 for Utah Valley.

Winston won in overtime for the Cardinals’ lone win against Northern Colorado.

In NIC’s other match, the Cardinals accepted forfeits in seven of the 10 matches and beat Northwest Kansas Technical College 48-6.

NIC returns to action next Sunday at the Mike Clock Open in Forest Grove, Ore.
