COEUR d'ALENE – The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning from Monday afternoon through Monday night. Southwest winds of 45 – 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are anticipated. Potential impacts for this event may lead to power outages and downed trees. Driving may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Be prepared to tie down any outdoor objects, such as holiday decorations to avoid them being blown away.

To prepare for the upcoming weather plan ahead by checking to see if you have an alternate heat source if the power does go out, such as a generator or fireplace. Plan for strong crosswinds when driving and keep two hands on the wheel. Winter weather can cause extremely dangerous driving conditions; by planning ahead and being prepared, you are working to ensure your safety and the safety of others out on the roadways.
