CALGARY, Alberta — The Western Hockey League announced Monday the Spokane Chiefs have been cleared to resume team activities after all personnel and players on the active roster tested negative for COVID-19.

The Chiefs returned to practice Monday for the first time since pausing team activities last Wednesday, following the discovery of two positive tests for COVID-19.

The Chiefs will resume regular season play when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.

Further updates regarding the two postponed regular season games last weekend between the Chiefs and Victoria Royals will be provided later this week, the league said.

EWU's Barriere wins sixth Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honor

FARMINGTON, Utah — Eastern Washington's Eric Barriere was named the Big Sky Football Offensive Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, which breaks the conference record for most times honored in a single season.

Montana's Robby Hauck and Cal Poly's Jaden Ohlsen were named the Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week.

Barriere's sixth offensive award breaks his tie with Montana's Dave Dickenson, who won the award five times in 1995. Overall, Barriere has won 12 Big Sky offensive weekly awards for his career.

Barriere led the Eagles to a Top 10 road win at UC Davis this past Saturday, after passing for 411 yards and three touchdowns while adding 42 yards on the ground. Barriere also became the Big Sky's all-time leader in passing yards after his performance, as he now has 12,676 career passing yards which also ranks 10th all-time in FCS history. Barriere tied Vernon Adams Jr's Big Sky career passing touchdown record with 110, which currently ranks 13th all-time in the FCS.

Hauck made a season-high 14 tackles with seven being solos in a win at Northern Arizona. Hauck also forced a fumble on a sack that Patrick O'Connell scooped up for the first of two defensive touchdowns for Montana on the day. Hauck and the Griz defense held NAU to just 55 yards rushing, helping Montana's third-ranked rush defense lower its season average to 73.0 rush yards allowed. The junior moved into sixth place on Montana's all-time leading tackler list.

Ohlsen nailed a game-winning field goal from 41 yards out to give Cal Poly its first Big Sky win of the season as the Mustangs defeated Idaho State 32-29. The freshman kicker was 2-for-2 on field goals, making a 36-yarder with 4:00 minutes remaining and his game-winning, 41-yarder coming with just four seconds remaining to lift the Mustangs. Ohlsen's kick gave head coach Beau Baldwin, the former Eastern Washington coach, his first conference win at Cal Poly.
