A Quincy teenager, an Othello man and a woman were injured Thursday afternoon in a collision at state Route 281 and Road 5 Northwest, south of Quincy, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Eduardo E. Ramirez Rodriguez, 17, of Quincy, was driving east on Road 5 just before 3:47 p.m. in a blue 2006 Honda Civic. Meanwhile, Gerardo M. Maldonado, 48, of Othello, was driving south on state Route 281 in a gold 2000 Cadillac Escalade.

Ramirez Rodriguez tried turning left in the Honda to go north on state Route 281 and was struck on the driver’s side by the Cadillac. The Honda came to rest in the eastbound ditch of Road 5, while the Cadillac blocked the northbound left turn lane of state Route 281.

Ramirez Rodriguez was flown to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for his injuries.

Maldonado and his passenger, Agustina P. Maldonado, 45, of Othello, were taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center for their injuries.

All three wore seat belts. Both vehicles were totaled.

The WSP said the cause was failure to yield right-of-way. Ramirez Rodriguez may be cited.
