Santa Claus hands out candy canes to excited youngsters after the Jolly Old Elf arrived in Sandpoint on Friday night to help the community kick off its holiday season. Hundreds of people packed the town square for the annual tree lighting ceremony and get ready for Christmas.

Hundreds of people packed the town square on Friday night to welcome Santa Claus to the community and cheer as the lights on the town Christmas tree were turned on for the first time this season.
