GINORIO: Right on N. Idaho
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 years, 11 months AGO
Thank you to Mr. Ginorio for your insightful op-ed from Sept. 24.
My wife and I are transplants from California because we believed that it was necessary to leave. Both of us were born and raised in California and we lament how the culture/society of California has degenerated at the hands of the progressives.
California has become a one-party state controlled by the Democrats, which is in essence a Marxist party, due to a corrupt political system controlled by public sector unions, environmental lobbyists, Silicon Valley, and a leftist educational system and news media.
California is plagued with the highest tax burden in the nation coupled with one of the worst infrastructures; a severe homeless crisis largely fueled by a permissive drug culture; a poor public elementary/secondary educational system; increasing crime due to a judicial system which increasingly advocates for the criminals; catastrophic forest fires due to forestry mismanagement, a consequence of the environmentalists preventing the implementation of sound forestry practices; unfettered illegal immigration protected by being a sanctuary state; and much more.
We sympathize with the native Idahoans who are experiencing the rapid population growth, but we did not move to North Idaho to transform it into another California. We moved here in hopes of returning to the America that we once knew, an America that valued the rule of law, personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, meritocracy and Judeo-Christian values.
