POST FALLS — After building a lead, then seeing it disappear, the time came when it was either battle or buckle for the Post Falls boys.

The Trojans chose to battle.

Andon Brandt, who also had two assists on the night, scored in the 73rd minute to send the Trojans past the Lewiston Bengals 3-2 in an Inland Empire League match at Post Falls High on Thursday.

“We’d gone up two goals and that changed the tide of the game,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “Then we got called for a handball in the box, which nobody wanted to fess up to. They buried a penalty kick, and at that point, I just thought ‘what’s going to happen next’. It was one of those, I guess we’re going to see how far we’ve came this season and the boys showed us and rose to the pressure. It’s huge and going to go a long way for us.”

Lance Gilmor and Alex Butler scored in the second half to give Post Falls (4-9-0, 3-6-0 IEL) a 2-0 lead. Teddy Kessler tied it in the 67th minute for Lewiston (5-7-0, 4-5-0).

“We just closed it out,” Lawson said. “It was a real, real fun game to watch.”
