SANDPOINT — Madison Meadows housing development to be considered for city council approval at the Oct. 6 meeting.

After a presentation by the developers and public comment from a concerned neighbor at the Sept. 7 Planning and Zoning meeting the committee recommended the development be approved by the city council.

Haldan Gates, who lives near the proposed development voiced concern of previous drainage issues he has experienced from runoff from the Mosshart Street subdivision onto Nicholas Way.

“Essentially two whole neighborhoods are flowing into my backyard,” said Gates. “I would urge those in charge who developed the detailed stormwater drainage plan to consider somewhere else or [design a] drainage for at least the majority of the neighborhood.”

He went on to ask that the developers come up with a solution to mitigate the additional stormwater load that is being placed on a poor drainage feature.

A public hearing on the subdivision will be held at the Oct. 6 council meeting. Meetings are the first and third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the city council chambers at City Hall, 1123 W. Lake St., Sandpoint.
