A 42-year-old Moses Lake man was injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle/tractor collision on state Route 28, east of Soap Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Jason M. Rueger was riding his silver 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 just before 3 p.m. east on state Route 28, nearing milepost 60, while a green 2018 John Deere tractor, driven by Lindsey A. Moore, 30, of East Soap Lake was heading south on a dirt road approaching state Route 28.

The tractor turned east on state Route 28, partially blocking the lane. The Yamaha swerved to the left, but struck the tractor’s hay rake attachment on the back, according to the WSP.

The motorcycle came to rest in the westbound lane and Rueger landed on the westbound shoulder. He was flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for his injuries. He was wearing a helmet and his motorcycle was totaled.

Moore was not injured. The tractor had non-reportable damage, but the rake did. Both were driven from the scene.

The WSP deemed the cause of the collision as speeding and Rueger may face charges. Travelers were advised to avoid the area for about four hours while the WSP investigated the collision.
