Two women, one from Wenatchee and one from Mattawa, were injured early Monday on state Route 243, just north of Beverly in Grant County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Lynda D. Burts, 62, of Wenatchee, was driving a white 2014 Mazda CX-5 southbound on state Route 243 just before 6:05 a.m., when the vehicle drifted into the northbound lane and struck a silver 2018 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Joana I. Ramirez Cruz, 28, of Mattawa, head-on.
A black 2008 Subaru Legacy, which was traveling north and driven by Ojeda L. Yordi, 18, of Beverly, then struck the Mazda. The Chevrolet and Subaru came to rest in the northbound lanes and the Mazda stopped 25 feet off the southbound shoulder.
Burts was flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for her injuries and may face charges if the WSP files them with the county prosecutor’s office and it moves forward.
Ramirez Cruz had a minor injury. The WSP didn’t report whether she was taken to the hospital. Yordi was not injured.
All three wore seat belts. All three vehicles had reportable damages and were towed.
The cause is under investigation and it was unknown whether drugs and/or alcohol was involved.
