Elizabeth Marie Scott Murphy
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 3 years, 3 months AGO
Sandpoint native and local business owner, Elizabeth Marie Scott Murphy passed away from COVID-19. She was 36.
She began her Heavenly journey October 1, 2021, in the loving embrace of her family. Liz was born August 15, 1985, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Ernie and Patty (Brown) Murphy. Although she spent her childhood in Alaska, she always enjoyed spending summers with her family at “the cabin,” City Beach and Springy Point; most memorable were Fourth of July parades and fireworks at the Edgewater. Growing up Liz enjoyed horse camp, basketball, volleyball, Future Problem Solving, honor society, swim team, violin and band. It was also during this time that her passion for design and her interest in art blossomed. She graduated from Cordova High School in 2004. She attended Washington State University on an academic scholarship, before transferring to Boise State University and studying fashion.
The light of their lives, Eden was born July 2010, to Liz Murphy and Nick Stockdale. Never a dull moment! Zip lines, gymnastics and skiing.
As an adult, Liz’s entrepreneurial spirit was revealed when she opened Creations Closet and purchased Azaleas, both in downtown Sandpoint.
Liz was generous, kind, smart, funny and caring. Her generosity in fact knew no boundaries: Liz never turned away anyone who needed help. Anyone who knew Liz would describe her as incredibly strong, evidenced by her decade-long recovery from addiction. Her caring, strong spirit supported many others on their journey to recovery; and is remembered by them as a symbol of hope and a safe haven, a soft place to land. She also battled a chronic, incredibly painful auto immune disease.
She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She treasured her time with her wonderful daughter and her fiancé Nick. And shop … did she ever love to shop? As Liz said, it’s the best hobby ever! Through blessings and hard work she was able to turn that hobby into a career.
She is survived by her parents, Ernie and Patty Murphy; her daughter, Eden; her brother, Patrick; fiancé, Nick Stockdale; her soul sister, Shery Meekings; as well as 11 aunts and uncles and over 40 cousins.
Liz is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dell and Lois Brown; and paternal grandparents, Mike and Eunice Murphy; her cousin, Shawna Elford; infant cousin Hugh Larson and Eden’s uncle, Luke Stockdale.
Services will be held Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home. A gathering will follow at the Brown Family Home, 511 Huron.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Liz’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
