The Polson Police Department is investigating the death of a toddler on Sept. 30, according to a press release issued Thursday evening.

Officer Hazeez Rafiu said police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to a Polson residence for a 1-year-old child with difficulty breathing. The child was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, then later transported by air to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

Early the next morning the toddler died at Sacred Heart Hospital.

The Polson Police Department is conducting a death investigation and has identified a person of interest. No criminal charges had been filed as of Friday morning, nor has the manner of death been determined, Rafiu said.
