The Knights of Columbus in Coeur d'Alene wants to help youths stay warm this winter through its "Coats for Kids" program.

This Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., it will be distributing free coats at St. Pius Catholic Church parish center, 625 E. Haycraft Ave.

"Putting their faith into action, Knights of Columbus councils have handed out more than 500,000 coats to children throughout the United States and Canada through the Coats for Kids program," according to a press release.

Coats are distributed on a first-come basis for toddlers through teens.

The Knights of Columbus councils 11623 and 1363 in Coeur d'Alene along with council 12560 in Post Falls and council 15304 in Rathdrum-Spirit Lake are four of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization.
