Public health officials have released the name of a Libby man who died in a crash in southwest Montana earlier this month.

Patrick Holloman, a 42-year male, died while driving near Livingston on Oct. 7 , according to the Park County Medical Examiner and Coroner.

Holloman was headed north on a muddy rural road when he entered a right curve and lost control, according to a release from Montana Highway Patrol. His Chevy Tahoe went off the left side of the road and collided with a fence. The vehicle overturned multiple times down a steep embankment and the driver was ejected.

No other vehicles were involved in the mid-afternoon crash. Excluding the driver, whom first responders found dead on arrival, the crash resulted in no injuries.

Law enforcement officials suspect speed was a factor in the crash but do not suspect the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and it was raining when the crash occurred.

Trooper Tyler Brant said the man had a Libby address.

There had been 175 fatalities on Montana highways since the start of 2021 as of Oct. 8, according to the state department of transportation. As of the same last year, there were 157 fatalities on state highways.
