COEUR d'ALENE — A truck driver was cited for inattentive driving after a trailer of trash he was hauling overturned on U.S. 95 just south of the Interstate 90 overpass on Wednesday.

The driver had taken the eastbound exit off Interstate 90 about 12:15 p.m. and was turning south onto U.S. 95 when the semi-trailer truck began to skid before crashing onto its side and leaving a trail of trash in its wake.

"Investigating Troopers say the driver of a trailer hauling garbage was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and failed to negotiate the curve at the off ramp onto southbound U.S. 95. The load shifted and the truck and trailer overturned," said an email from ISP.

The driver, a 59-year-old man from Athol, was wearing a seat belt, ISP said. He was treated and released from Kootenai Health.

The driver was cited for inattentive driving, a misdemeanor, ISP said.

Coeur d'Alene firefighters, Idaho State Police troopers and others responded to the accident.

Several passersby stopped to survey the scene and were glad to see there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Northbound 95 at the crash site was completely closed for several hours. Southbound was limited to one lane while the trash, truck and a stream of oil were cleaned from the roadway.

A mother's words, and love, echo in time

If I am quiet for a moment, I can hear her voice and I have to chuckle because her words were not always calm, sweet and reassuring. Oh, not that she was mean. She was just speaking her mind and yes, wanted to have a little fun at the expense of those she loved.
