Rutledge is a particularly outstanding candidate

The only candidate who knew about Priest River Elementary’s cafeteria renovation, a whopping $2.5 million proposed project, was Keith Rutledge. He not only knew about it, he also did his homework and with his expertise as a project manager, estimated that it should be closer to $1.2 million.

He also had an excellent answer to whether students need to know the Constitution and our American history. He felt that knowledge of our Founding Fathers and their incredible commitment to our Republican form of government, is vital. Also, he proposed that a civics class would help students understand how to interact with our government and keep it alive.

Also, how does one address that our district has the lowest ISAT scores and worst graduation rates? Keith acknowledged that to come up with a good solution, one needs to look at the big picture. He said this would include looking at the different curriculum, visiting with teachers and taking time to research and develop a solution.

Keith thought that sports was an important part of any school program. He also would not mandate masks or the vaccine. He felt that it could make schools liable, and was therefore, both morally and legally a bad idea.

No wonder Keith was later able to state that “I had not been endorsed or supported by either the Bonner County Republican or Democratic parties. While I cannot run for a non-partisan office as a Republican, I am very pleased to announce that I have received an endorsement from the Bonner County Republican Central Committee and will be appearing on their list of recommended candidates. Additionally, I have also received an endorsement from the Idaho True Conservatives group and will be appearing on their list of recommended candidates as well. I am proud to have received the endorsements of both groups and hope that it gives the community guidance as to my beliefs and stances.”
